PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

 

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing duties as required.
  • Assist with annual external audit, and perform internal audits as necessary.
  • Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.
  • Installs, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.
  • Devises and implements system for general accounting.
  • Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
  • Conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the organization's accounting operation.
  • Collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.
  • Manages accruals, subsidiary ledgers, and supporting records and schedules.
  • Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies.
  • Processes, reports, and manages various internal company accounting policies and plans.
  • Complete government surveys in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage capital expenditure approval process.
  • Maintain global asset register and depreciation schedules in ERP system.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCY to perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

 

  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and similar programs.
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.
  • The individual will be expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his / her work product. The individual will work closely with all major functional leaders of the Company.
  • Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Quantity - Meets productivity standards; completes work in timely manner; strives to increase productivity; works quickly.
  • Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. MBA and/or CPA a plus, but not required.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS MBA and/or CPA a plus, but not required.
