Position Overview:
This position is responsible for overall production operations and processes related to the manufacture of all the company’s products.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Operations:
• Adheres to BRC Audit Standards in the production area.
• Formulates and supervises processes, quality, and production improvement methodologies.
• Directs the development, planning, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing methods for products and technologies.
• Ensures that quality of the products is maintained, safety procedures, regulatory requirements, and company guidelines are followed.
• Makes and implements policies and procedures to improve upon manufacturing operations strategies.
• Hires, builds and mentors employees and helps them reach company targets
• Ensures that equipment, materials and tools used are of the best quality and production standards are followed.
• Works with QC and purchasing staff to make quality products to meet customers’ expectations and food safety guidelines.
• Identify and address opportunities for increased efficiency and capacity of production functions.
• Departments include Shipping, Receiving, Blending, Packing, Scheduling, Purchasing, Inventory.
Purchasing:
• Responsible for coordinating all activities associated with procurement of materials and supplies for the company.
• Supervise and manage the work of those individuals involved in the storage, transport, and maintenance of the procured supplies or materials.
• Organize the processing and re-selling of the material; and prepare the process of bids and procurement of the supplies.
• Responsible for giving instructions or advice to the producer on methods to improve and augment their produce, both in quantity and quality. This would require the purchasing agent additional knowledge about the produce and how it is processed.
• Take into consideration the quality of the supplies and equipment that are to be purchased as low-quality materials can lead to inferior products.
• Arrange for, observe and supervise the transport and safety of the procured products.
Scheduling:
• Determines foreseeable labor needs based on current production schedule.
• Considers, prepares and allocates labor resources to ensure adequate production support is available.
• Works with Line Managers to make adjustments to labor requirements based on daily demand changes or last minute call-ins while minimizing additional labor cost.
• Facilitates daily meetings with site leaders to create alignment on production needs and team member skill sets.
• Reliable resource for employees with questions, concerns or suggestions with the ability to troubleshoot issues and/or system failures.
• Monitors and communicates last minute requests in order to remain aligned on production and team member labor needs.
• Ensures the labor allocation process is consistent, reliable and being accurately operated by users.
• Performs audits / observations of production lines confirming the system and users are meeting business needs, following food safety procedures and quality controls.
• Scheduling of all SKU’s across multiple production lines through scheduling best practices and lean principle applications.
• Integrate with operations to achieve operations efficiency, sequence production schedules to maximize operations efficiency, expedite operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
Supervision Received:
The position reports directly to the President.
Supervision Exercised:
The position supervises Procurement Manager, Warehouse Manager, Inventory Specialist, and Scheduler.
Qualifications & Skills:
• 10 years of experience in batch manufacturing
• Bachelor’s degree
• Strong leadership and teamwork skills, and ability to clearly communicate with a diverse team
• Collaborate with all levels of the organization
• Ability to make in the moment decisions and achieve results based on company goals
• Experience in six sigma or similar continuous improvement
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems
• Lean manufacturing, strategic planning, scheduling, and goal setting
• Customer focused: understanding of the importance of customer experience and ability to achieve excellence in meeting or exceeding customer expectations with the highest level of quality
• Implementation and measurement of goals and key performance indicators
• Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus

Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
