Overview
We are looking for a passionate, experienced leader to become part of our management team and oversee the management of a robust food safety program and OSHA Safety program to keep us compliant with all federal legislation and industry best practices. The Food Safety/Quality Manager will serve as the lead for employee training, product recall communications, regulatory inspection visits and third-party audits. This role will also require knowledge of OSHA safety. The Quality Manager must have HACCP, PCQI and SQF Practitioner certification(s).
Duties
- Review current food safety plans and operations to ensure the integrity of the SQF Program.
- Develop, write and manage Safety Programs.
- Maintain SQF Certification, continuously improve and update existing programs to maintain compliance as well as direct the long-term strategy of food safety programs for the company.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement in production processes and product quality.
- Lead training sessions for staff on quality standards, HACCP principles, and best practices in quality management.
- Analyze data from quality inspections and audits to identify trends, root causes of defects, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Maintain documentation related to quality systems, including procedures, reports, and corrective action plans and internal audits.
- Organize and maintain a supplier approval program as well as update annual third-party certifications
- Communicate with purchasing any non-compliance in the status of vendors regarding all federal, state and local food safety regulations.
- Monitor food safety alerts and recalls from vendors to proactively communicate with relevant sales staff and customers.
- Provide all information regarding annual certifications for Bridgford and recalls as required by Vendors.
- Lead the Food Safety Committee and the Safety Committee with management and key employees.
- Perform mock recalls in coordination with sales staff and customers.
- Direct any recalls of affected products or food safety related complaints ensuring timely communication and corrective actions with customers and sales staff as needed.
- The Quality Manager will have a strong understanding of FDA/AMS/FSIS standards and regulations.
Skills
- In-depth knowledge of FDA regulations and industry standards related to quality management.
- Proven experience in quality assurance, including familiarity with HACCP principles and QA/QC methodologies.
- Bachelor's degree in: Food Science, Food Safety, Food Technology, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or Supply Chain/Operations from a four-year college/university. Comparable work experience will be evaluated for non-degreed candidates.
- Experience conducting quality audits and implementing corrective actions based on findings.
- Proficiency in developing and maintaining quality inspection protocols.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets related to product quality.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across departments and training staff on quality practices.
- Very Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power point.
- Understanding of ERP and or inventory software.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.
- Located in Statesville, NC or surrounding area or willing to relocate.
