JOB SUMMARY:
The Safety Coordinator will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing a safe working environment across our facilities in Fargo, ND, and St. Louis, MO. This position is responsible for conducting safety audits, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company policies, delivering effective training, and fostering a culture of safety. Additionally, the Safety Coordinator will drive continuous improvement initiatives and manage safety-related projects to enhance operational efficiency and safety standards. Collaborating with employees and management, the Safety Coordinator will identify risks, implement preventative measures, and oversee projects that contribute to long-term safety and organizational success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Facility Safety Inspections and Audits:
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits at both Fargo and St. Louis facilities.
- Identify hazards, propose corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Safety Training and Tracking:
- Develop, deliver, and track comprehensive safety training programs, including annual and onboarding training.
- Ensure all employees are up to date on mandatory safety certifications and training.
- Safety SOP Management:
- Review and update safety-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to reflect current regulations and best practices.
- Safety Committee Leadership:
- Lead and direct safety committees in Fargo and St. Louis, fostering engagement and collaboration.
- Facilitate regular meetings and ensure follow-through on safety initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (continued):
- Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
- Develop and implement safety improvement plans that align with organizational goals.
- Use data-driven approaches to identify trends and opportunities for enhancing safety practices.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging employee feedback and participation in safety enhancements.
- Project Management:
- Lead and manage safety-related projects, from planning to execution, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with company objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety considerations into broader operational projects.
- Track project progress, report outcomes, and implement lessons learned for future initiatives.
- Emergency Action Plans:
- Design and implement Emergency Action Plans for both locations, including conducting associated drills.
- Evaluate and improve emergency response protocols as needed.
- Incident Management:
- Conduct root cause analyses for incidents to determine contributing factors and prevent recurrence.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with insurance requirements.
- OSHA Compliance and Reporting:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations at all facilities.
- Prepare and submit required OSHA reports and maintain accurate records.
- Safety Concerns and Solutions:
- Act as a point of contact for safety concerns and issues raised by employees or management.
- Propose and implement practical, effective solutions to address safety challenges.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Project Management, or a related field preferred.
- 3 years of experience in a safety-focused role, with experience managing multi-site safety programs.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, including planning, execution, and evaluation.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, workplace safety standards, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency in conducting training sessions and developing safety programs.
- Experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and workers’ compensation management.
- Proven ability to design and implement emergency action plans and conduct drills.
- Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma principles is a plus.
MEASURABLES:
- Incident Rate Reduction
- Measure: Track the Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) and Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred (DART) rate year-over-year to evaluate the effectiveness of safety initiatives.
- Target: Achieve a reduction of 10% in incident rates compared to the previous year.
- Compliance Audit Success
- Measure: Number of successful internal and external safety audits with zero major findings.
- Target: Achieve 100% compliance during OSHA or third-party safety inspections.
- Training Completion Rate
- Measure: Percentage of employees who complete mandatory safety training on time, including onboarding and annual refreshers.
- Target: Maintain a 95% or higher training completion rate across all teams.
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action Closure
- Measure: Average time taken to conduct RCAs and implement corrective actions after safety incidents.
- Target: Close 90% of RCAs and corrective actions within 5 days of an incident.
- Near-Miss Reporting and Resolution
- Measure: Number of near-miss incidents reported and resolved within a specified timeframe.
- Target: Achieve a 10% increase in near-miss reporting and resolve 95% of issues within 30 days.
