What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hope Navigator - Grant position at CAREERSOURCE SOUTHWEST FLORIDA?
Job Summary:
Coordinate and collaborate case management that leads to successful outcomes for the Hope Florida – A Pathway to Prosperity initiative that is a comprehensive approach to addressing poverty and promoting economic mobility in Florida. The Hope Navigator will assist and aid participants on the path to self-sufficiency.
Essential Functions:
· Oversee and develop referral intake and joint case management processes involving local Department of Children and Families (DCF) offices.
· Develop and implement specialized services and programming aimed at training, job readiness, and job placement for Hope Florida program participants that lead to self-sufficiency and economic prosperity.
· Engage and job develop with Hope Florida designated employers to identify job orders for participants.
· Engage in referrals of potential clients in need of immediate support (not related to employment) and make connections to other Hope Navigators to maximize and achieve economic stability.
· Prioritize placement activities for participants with employers where appropriate.
· Utilize targeted programmatic services to promote customized participant plans.
· Facilitate employability workshops to include instructing career seekers one-on-one or in a group setting by conducting employability skills workshops on presenting a positive image; provide information on how to effectively access job openings, complete applications, resume assistance, interviewing and networking techniques, etc.
· Participate in regular meetings with DCF and other appropriate entities to review the journey of jointly managed HOPE Florida participants.
· Ensure program outcomes meet or exceed measured outcomes.
Non-Essential Functions:
· Participate in periodic meetings with state partners, including DCF and Florida Commerce to refine the program statewide.
· Leverage the Florida CLIFF Dashboard suite or tools in case management, career coaching and identifying necessary supportive services when working with participants.
· Provide outreach to employers to support and promote the Hope Florida initiative and the micro-site powered by Employ Florida,
· Other duties as assigned.
Supervision Exercised None
Supervision Received:
This position reports directly to a Senior Program Manager. The position requires independent judgment and discretion in making day-to-day decisions with respect to work schedules, what is to be done and how to proceed. Job duties shall be performed independently after general direction is provided.
Internal - Maintains a close working relationship with CareerSource Southwest Florida Supervisors. Works cooperatively and professionally with all internal staff.
External - Sustains frequent contact with the private and public business sector, economic development agencies, chambers of commerce, educational institutions and other employment and training providers.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred. Two years of related experience may be substituted for one year of education.
- Florida Workforce Professional Certification Tier I must be achieved within 6 months of date of hire.
- Two years’ experience in workforce development requiring establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with customers is preferred.
- Must be experienced in and demonstrate strong computer, written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to influence the management team through written/interpersonal, presentation skills, and the ability to simultaneously address multiple projects and challenges.
- Ability to communicate in all media and in individual and group presentation settings.
- Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
- Excellent customer service and customer satisfaction skills.
- Learn and use applicable State of Florida and/or Southwest Florida Workforce Development Board computer systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking, are essential.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to use state workforce databases and the internet to conduct research and obtain data.
Other Requirements:
- Reliable transportation is necessary for travel throughout the workforce development region. Will attend various functions and meetings which may occur before or after normal business hours.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License and Insurance.
Physical Requirements:
· Physical ability to perform the above listed Job Functions.
· May be required to sit for prolonged periods of time.
· Infrequent light physical effort required - reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday.
· Proper lifting techniques required may include lifting up to 25 pounds for files and computer printouts on occasion.
· Work is performed in an office environment and will also require prolonged periods of driving or traveling within the region visiting employers and community partners.
