PURPOSE :
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Account Manager to join our Account Management Team that is supporting CareFirsts National Accounts. This critical role involves providing consultative expertise on benefits, products, and capabilities. The Account Manager will be responsible for promoting new and existing products or services through the development and delivery of tactical marketing and communication initiatives. This role is pivotal in driving group enrollment growth by marketing to the client's associate base, building and maintaining long-term relationships with key senior-level decision makers and influencers, and managing the implementation of additional products, services, and third-party vendor solutions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Client Engagement : Grow group enrollment by marketing to the client's associate base. Lead and conduct employer and employee educational and communication meetings independently at various locations.
Client Relationship Management : Build and maintain strong, cultivated relationships with clients, acting independently as a trusted advisor. Develop strategies for renewal events, including goal setting, timeframe analysis, and implementation requirements.
Issue Resolution : Oversee the resolution of escalated issues in consultation with internal and external resources. Assess and determine the risk of issues to identify their impact on the company and client, and work collaboratively to determine ultimate resolutions.
Program Development : Facilitate benefit analysis and develop structured programs to engage members, including open enrollment strategy, wellness services deployment, and implementation oversight.
Compliance : Disseminate understanding of legal developments and changes in regulations related to insurance carriers and federal and state laws to ensure compliant administration of benefit programs.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education : Bachelor's Degree or an additional 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
Experience : Minimum of 3 years' experience in sales, sales support, implementation, benefit administration, or account management.
Licenses / Certifications : Current health and life license for Maryland, Washington D.C., and Virginia is REQUIRED.
Location : CANDIDATES MUST LIVE IN THE MD, DC, VA AREA IN ORDER TO TRAVEL INTO THE OFFICES AND FOR CLIENT MEETINGS AND STAFF MEETINGS.
SKILLS & ABILITIES :
- Superior communication skills and knowledge of employee benefits issues.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; basic knowledge of PowerPoint preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance information, technology, and new legislation.
- Ability to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands.
Travel Requirements : Estimated 50% travel, both local and nationwide, is required throughout the year. During Q4, travel may increase up to 70%.
Salary Range : $52,000 - $84,500 (based on education, years of experience, and internal equity). Sales Incentive Bonuses are separate.
