PURPOSE:
The Public Health Department within the Office of the CEO works across all departments to embed public health principles into CareFirst's programs, policies, and practices, ultimately leading initiatives and being strategic advisors to address health inequities and improve health outcomes for all members, particularly those facing systemic barriers to access and accessibility.
This Intern position will assist the department with help with research, data capturing and working closely with different team members to better optimized public health initiatives.
This is a summer internship with up to 35 hours per week in the Summer and the potential to be work on part time (5-15 hours per week) work in the Fall/Spring.
Essential Functions
Education Level: Must be a student working towards a Masters/Graduate degree in an accredited college or university.
Experience: Graduate student targeting majors in Public Health, Health Policy, Health Management, Health Informatics, Health Administration; GPA: 3.0 or above.
Required Abilities/Skills
Demonstrated understanding of health disparities, social drivers of health, and health equity
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including assisting with presentations and proposals
Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
Willingness to work as part of a team as well as independently
Experience using Microsoft Office products, (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and the Internet
Salary Range: $18,720 - $26,000

- Assist with the development of literature reviews, environmental scans, status reports, and project timelines
- Create compelling presentations for various audiences
- Ability to interact and schedule/coordinate meetings with internal and external groups
- Support departmental projects and initiatives
