Overview:
This position is designated for a male Direct Service Provider (DSP) to meet privacy-based needs. The DSP will provide day-hab and non-medical transportation to adults with developmental disabilities in a day program setting. Care is tailored to the individual's Personal Plan of Service, addressing unique needs such as personal care, transportation, and skill-building. This role requires a compassionate, detail-oriented professional dedicated to improving the quality of life for those served.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care aligned with the individual's Personal Plan of Service (ISP).
- Assist male clients with personal care tasks, including dressing, bathing, restroom use, and hygiene routines, ensuring the client's privacy and dignity.
- Document care and medication administration in compliance with company and state policies.
- Input clinical data into Britco
- Teach basic independent living skills to developmentally disabled adults.
- Assist with mobility, such as moving from room to room.
- Oversee and assist with rehabilitation exercises as needed.
- Administer or ensure the proper administration of prescribed medications (training provided).
- Prepare meals adhering to dietary restrictions.
- Support individuals in budgeting and household tasks.
- Perform housekeeping chores, including dishes, laundry, vacuuming, and mopping.
- Provide transportation to work, programs, medical appointments, and social activities.
- Run errands, such as grocery shopping or visiting the laundromat.
- Serve as a companion and organize engaging activities.
- Perform all job duties respectfully, aligning with the agency’s mission and values.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Male, to meet privacy requirements for providing personal care to male clients.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of experience providing direct care services to adults with a variety of disabilities.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Certification in First Aid/CPR within 60 days of employment.
- Maintain a valid Ohio or Michigan driver’s license with a good driving record, adequate insurance, and willingness to use a personal vehicle for work.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to pass a drug test and background check.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing for prolonged periods.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs independently and over 50 lbs with assistance or mechanical lift.
- Pushing and pulling objects up to 35 lbs.
- Stooping, reaching, and balancing as required for tasks.
- Operating a motor vehicle safely and in compliance with the agency’s Vehicle Safety Program.
