What are the responsibilities and job description for the PCA/Caregiver position at Caregiver healthcare aide positions needed?
Please respond with ALL the items and questions and in this ad:
STARTING APRIL, POSSIBLY AS SOON AS MARCH, we will need four aides to care for our 40 year old son. He has cerebral palsy and is in wheelchair. He needs full care (showering, toileting, meal prep, etc)
Keep in mind that we hope this employment is long term (because we don't want a lot of turnover), so this hiring process is important.
You could be working daytime and/or overnight shifts, for 16-40 hours per week.
--- So, let us know your daily availability.
Living nearby is a plus, but not a requirement of every aide we hire. This minimizing transportation problems when there is snowy and icy weather.
--- So, let us know your address (or cross streets).
--- Please describe any paid experience with assisting the disabled or elderly. If you do not have this experience, what qualities do you have that will help with situation?
The job will require a person who is strong to do Pivot Transfers. Our son is a quadriplegic and can only weight bear with assistance. He is about 135 pounds. Doing pivot transfers, when done appropriately, can eliminate heavy lifting. This is important for the safety of the aide and our son. On a daily basis, there are 5-6 transfers.
--- So, let us know if this is okay with you
Must be comfortable with driving him in his Full Size van.
--- So, let us know if this is okay with you
Our small dog sometimes stays overnight with him.

The job will require some creative thinking to take him out into the community for various types of social events. Examples are the typical ones like bowling and the movies, but also fishing, local festivals, library events, etc. We don’t want him sitting at home. He is easy to please.
--- So, let us know if that is a okay with you.
Include two employment references. Personal references are also helpful.
NOTE: You will need to go thru a Maryland State hiring process that includes fingerprinting, background check and CPR training. Drug testing is a possibility. As an aide is chosen (and we need a total of four), your process will then take about 4 weeks before you can start working.
Thank you.
