In today’s healthcare environment, patients are given little guidance outside of the hospital, leaving them with a gap in treatment between doctor’s visits. CareSense’s mission is to fix this problem. Our company’s proprietary software allows clinicians to create care plans that support patient procedure preparation and recovery at home. Through automated text messages, app notifications, emails, and phone calls, patients are sent educational content, monitored for potential issues, alerted about important events, and surveyed on their health state. CareSense helps thousands of patients every day.
Job Summary
We’re an established but growing company and we’re looking for someone who has the experience to bring immediate value to the reliability, scalability, and maintainability of our backend systems. Our first priority is improving skill redundancy and addressing our infrastructure backlog. In the long term, we have a variety of growth oriented projects that could use someone with broad skills and interests. Our approach is team oriented and we’re seeking someone with perspective who wants impactful employment in a supportive and flexible work environment with a respect for work-life balance. However, we are also open to different hiring options if you are interested in a temporary or consulting role.
Essential skills :
Experience setting up, maintaining, and restoring EC2 and RDS instances (snapshots, backups, replication, networking, etc.)
Experience with FreeBSD or comparable Linux systems
Experience supporting security best practices
Ability to set up and maintain VPNs
Important skills :
An understanding of MySQL and / or PostgreSQL database systems and maintenance (indexes, query optimization, Multi-AZ, proxies, IAM)
Competence with Python or other similar programming languages
Good organizational skills and follow–through
Nice to have :
A good understanding of software system architecture and coding best practices
Experience following through with vague or incomplete specs and arriving at clear requirements
Experience managing complex Python environments and dependencies
Comfort communicating regularly with clients
An understanding of automated test and code deployment tools
Able to work east coast hours
Additional helpful skills :
Experience with Go, PHP, JavaScript, or other similar languages
Experience with the healthcare industry in general (HL7, HIPAA, General understanding of the business of healthcare)
Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident authorized to work without sponsorship.
