- Graduate from Braille program
- Current license as a Braille Transcriptionist
- Seeking an individual willing to pursue the knowledge and skills needed to transcribe materials from print to braille
- Be fluent in the UEB braille code as well as Nemeth and possibly music and foreign language
- Be knowledgeable in using braille translation software, and know how to import and process publishers' electronic files
Responsibilities
- Convert documents sent from teachers into braille
- Prepare tactile graphics
- Convert documents sent from students to print/ appropriate format
- The role of the braillist is to transcribe educational materials from print to braille
- Proofread and perform quality control checks on all instructional materials
