POSITION TITLE: Mammography Technologist
REPORTS TO: Director of Clinical Business Services
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: The Mammography Technologist operates radiologic equipment and performs mammography procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease. The mammography tech is responsible for detecting breast tissue abnormalities by completing mammographic imaging studies; presenting them for diagnosis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- The following information is considered the definition of essential functions but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. The Mammography Technologist may be reassigned duties and responsibilities at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other staffing reasons.
- Perform/produce quality radiography and mammography exams in a safe and proper manner with all patients
- Takes general x-rays following established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety
- 1 Position Title: Mammography Technologist
- Scan all necessary documents into the appropriate database for interpretation from the radiologist Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of imaging procedures; explaining equipment; answering questions.
- Applies principals of radiation to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others
OTHER JOB RELATED FUNCTIONS:
- Practices aseptic/sterile techniques to prevent cross contamination. Clean the exam room and equipment after use and/or every patient
- Operates imaging equipment and other related radiology equipment such as computers, copier, scanners, fax machine, and printer
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures.
- Assist with registering patients, scheduling appointments, and importing and exporting CD's and reports.
- Assist coworkers with their duties
- Other duties as assigned by Radiology Director and Chief Information Officer
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Must have received a Certificate of completion from an allied health education and accreditation (AMA) accredited radiology program which meets requirements of the American Registry of Radiological Technologist
- Must be a certified mammography technologist with 40 hours of training, completed 15 CMEs in the past 3 years, and have performed 200 mammograms in the previous 24 months
Experience:
- I year of experience performing screening and diagnostic mammograms
- 1 year of experience in radiology setting
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have excellent oral/written communication skills
Transportation Requirement:
- Must have Reliable Transportation
Supervisory Responsibility:
- None
Additional Eligibility Qualifications (licenses, programs, certificates, pre-employment check and post and annual screening(s)
- Copy of Certification of completion from an allied health education and accreditation (AMA) accredited radiology program which meets requirements of the American Registry of Radiological Technologist
- Copy of current certification in mammography
- Current registration as a radiologic technologist
- Current Registration with the Missouri Family Care Safety Registry Annual PPD or Chest x-Ray
- Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates)
- Certificate of completion from an allied health education and accreditation (AMA) accredited radiology program which meets requirements of the American Registry of Radiological Technologist
- Current certification in mammography

3 Position Title: Mammography Technologist
Work environment for this position operates in a medical/clinical environment. This role routinely uses standard offce equipment such as computers, phone, photocopiers, adding machine, filing cabinets. In this position, environmental/atmospheric conditions are of normal office conditions, some temporary temperature fluctuations. May work at more than one CARESTL HEALTH's site as requested; site assignments may change periodically. This position may require occasional overnight travel, evening and/or weekend hours.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, during the hours that the health center is open; this may vary by department and Wpe of work that is being performed The health center reserves the right to change its houß of operation based on the needs of the community it serves.
