Position:
Kennel Attendants are vital to our clinic. Every person on our team has served in this role at some point in their career. Kennel attendants provide daily care for our hospitalized and boarded animals and are key to helping our full-time staff maintain a sanitary environment. The position involves cleaning, bathing, grooming, exercising and feeding our boarded animals. The Attendant is also responsible for cleaning cages, administering medication, and monitoring the behavior of our patients. Typically, this is a part-time position, involving a few shifts from 3:30 to 6:30 during the week, every other weekend mornings and evenings, and occasional holidays. The role interacts with the clinical team, clients and supports our customer focused environment. It is a great position especially for anyone interested in becoming further trained as a veterinarian, veterinary technician or veterinary receptionist.
Job Responsibilities:
- Caring for hospitalized animals during your assigned shift
- Bathing, grooming, exercising, feeding, administering medication, and monitoring behavior of pets
- Holding pets while technicians or doctors perform examinations
- Assist with kennel sanitization and cleaning the clinic (sweeping floors, dusting receptionary areas, sanitizing surgery suites and exam rooms)
- Reporting changes in animal behavior, health or concerns to Vet or Hospital Manager
- Maintaining animal records, such as weight, physical condition, treatments received, medications given, and food intake and other potential data as needed
- Other duties as assigned by Doctor/Hospital Manager/Kennel Manager
- Washing, drying, and folding laundry
- Must be able to lift 50lbs or more, stoop, bend and stand on feet for long periods.
Skills / Qualifications:
- Be 16 years or older and must have reliable transportation to drive to work
- Be willing to work every other weekend and occasional holidays
- Previous experience with animals preferred
- Customer service attitude
- Organizational skills
- Team oriented, enjoys working as part of team
- Solid communication skills including verbally spoken and clear texting with professional English grammar
