Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Activities Director to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities for residents in a long-term care setting. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for seniors and individuals with disabilities by promoting social interaction, physical activity, and mental stimulation. The Activities Director will work closely with residents, families, and staff to create a vibrant community atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activity program that meets the diverse needs of residents.
- Plan and coordinate events, outings, and recreational activities that promote social engagement.
- Conduct assessments to identify residents' interests and abilities to tailor activities accordingly.
- Collaborate with caregiving staff to ensure that activities align with residents' individual care plans and support their Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
- Facilitate group discussions and provide aging issues counseling to encourage participation and address concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities and evaluate the effectiveness of programs.
- Foster relationships with community organizations to enhance programming opportunities.
- Train and supervise volunteers or staff assisting with activities.
Experience
- Previous experience in long-term care or senior care settings is preferred.
- Background in event planning or recreational therapy is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
- Knowledge of caregiving practices and aging issues counseling is beneficial.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
- A certification as an Activity Director or willingness to acquire.
