Job Summary
Ensure the operations of on-site and off-site patient access, registration and cashier functions to efficiently admit and discharge patients and maximize the hospital’s cash position. Facilitate the resolution of all customer service issues. Ensure staff members develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the various systems utilized by Patient Access Services.
Essential Functions
- Complies with all Federal and State laws and regulations.
- Responsible to assure a good working relationship with physicians and their office staff as well as fostering a close working relationship with the Hospital Utilization Review staff and the Medical Records department.
- Monitors and audits the accuracy of all information obtained. Enforces that all registration documents, photo IDs and insurance cards are being scanned accurately.
- Responsible for providing Ancillary Providers with necessary and accurate information.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
- Hands-on with the registration process and helps out wherever the workload dictates.
- Responsible to keep superiors informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance. Responsible to keep staff informed of system changes or compliance issues through group meetings.
- Responsible for the Patient Access schedules to ensure adequate coverage for the department.

Minimum Education/Certifications
Associates Degree in Business OR Equivalent work experience in hospital admissions setting. Computer skills, customer service, medical terminology and the ability to do multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong analytical and project management skills essential. Outstanding organizational skills and professionalism.
Knowledge of third party payer requirements. Must be proficient in insurance verification process using on-line techniques.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and superior problem solving and interpersonal skills with a variety of individuals are essential.
Minimum Work Experience
Two to three years of directly related experience in hospital admissions.
