A/P Specialist

W2 only, no C2C, must be authorized to work in the US (both now and in the future).

Carex is partnering with a utlility industry partner to find a detail-oriented and organized A/P Speciaist to support core finance functions through accounting, financial processing, and administrative support. This role works closely with internal teams and vendors, assisting with financial operations and ensuring accurate and timely completion of key deliverables. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys streamlining processes, solving problems, and contributing to continuous improvement.

This is hybrid (2 days/week) role based in Madison, WI or Dubuque, IA. The position is a contract to start, and could extend or convert to a permanent position.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain positive and effective communication with internal teams and external vendors.
• Identify and implement innovative solutions to improve financial processes and resolve issues.
• Process requisitions, invoices, and expense reports in alignment with internal finance procedures.
• Perform basic accounting tasks such as journal entries, accruals, and running financial reports.
• Support compliance initiatives by preparing or assisting with required financial reporting.
• Utilize a variety of computer applications including spreadsheets, presentations, forms, and databases.
• Respond to financial inquiries through various channels and ensure complete resolution.
• Research and address finance-related questions, advising on appropriate next steps.
• Assist with administrative tasks and special projects as assigned by finance leadership.
  
  
  

What You’ll Bring

• 3-4 years of A/P experience required.
• Associate degree in finance, accounting, or administrative support field preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and handle confidential information appropriately.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
