What We’re Looking For:
This full-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) position is dedicated to supporting individuals who use American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate. If you are fluent or semi-fluent in ASL and are looking for a meaningful role, this could be the opportunity for you. While ASL certification is not required, semi-fluent or fluent ASL skills are essential for success in this role.
As a DSP, You’ll Spend Your Days:
- Daily Living Support: Assisting with feeding, personal hygiene, and specialized medical care.
- ASL Proficiency: Communicating using ASL to assist with personal goals and engagement
- Relationship Building: Developing trusting relationships with individuals served.
- Community Outings: Accompanying individuals on outings, helping them engage with the community.
- Life Skills Development: Crafts, games, exercise, and more.
- Transportation: Transporting individuals to and from facilities in compliance with safety regulations.
- Record Keeping: Maintaining timely and accurate records for billing, notes, and other documentation.

A DSP provides direct support, instruction, and assistance to persons with disabilities (I/DD) living in the community. Health and safety, community inclusion, and daily living skills are just a few of the exciting aspects of the job!
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus, but not a requirement.
- As required by specific job requirements, must know first aid/health/safety measures, or build an acceptable competence level by post-hire training.
- Valid Driver's License
- Must be able to meet agency insurability requirements
- Must be able to bend, stoop, or stand for long periods of time. Must also be able to assistance in lifting or transferring individuals to and from wheelchairs. Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to: gloves, masks, gowns, face shields, shoes, ear plugs, etc. Must be able to follow all required safe and universal precaution practices during a pandemic and as required otherwise.
