Job Title: Senior Associate General Counsel, Labor and Employment

About the Role:
This position will require four days of in-office work in Centreville, VA, with flexibility to adapt to future business needs. As a Senior Associate General Counsel, you will provide employment law advice and counseling to leadership and the Human Resources team on various topics, including recruiting, employee relations, performance management, and terminations.
Responsibilities:
* Providing employment law advice and counseling on recruiting, employee relations, performance management, leaves of absence, disability accommodations, wage and hour requirements, terminations, internal investigations, compensation, benefits, privacy, immigration, and employee classification.
* Drafting and refining employment-related documents and agreements, including offer letters, employment agreements, separation agreements, confidentiality agreements, and policies affecting employees.
* Advising on internal investigations, partnering with investigators, reviewing investigation debriefs and reports, and advising on investigation processes and training programs.
* Partnering with Human Resources to build processes for ensuring proper and consistent application of federal and state laws, rules, and regulations as well as CARFAX policies, processes, and procedures.
* Supervising compliance with federal and state laws, rules, and regulations and CARFAX policies.
* Monitoring legislation, regulations, case law, government enforcement activities, and emerging trends in labor and employment law to proactively provide advice to leadership and the Human Resources team.
Requirements:
* Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
* Currently licensed to practice law in Virginia or eligible to be admitted under a Virginia Corporate Counsel Certificate.
* At least 10 years of experience specializing in labor and employment matters, including both law firm and in-house experience, with significant and progressive responsibility.
* Expertise in federal and state employment law required; experience in Canada strongly preferred.
* Strong analytical skills and a practical and creative problem-solving approach.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers.
* Proven ability to work in a demanding environment, both independently and as part of a team, with a hands-on attitude and a willingness to get things done.
