Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Comptroller who will in time transition to the head Comptroller. The Assistant is to oversee our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with expertise in managing budgets, account reconciliations, and compliance with financial regulations. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records and providing strategic insights to support our organization's growth.
Responsibilities
- Manage the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation processes to maintain accurate records of assets, liabilities, and equity.
- Create weekly job reports for the President and job supervisors.
- Prepare and track weekly Affidavits to be signed by Vendors after they receive payments.
- Interface with banks on behalf of customers who have construction loans.
- Conduct account reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations to ensure data integrity across financial systems.
- Conduct payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate employee compensation.
- Keep track of Change orders and discuss with job supervisors.
- Oversee the filing systems for Accounting and Human resources
- Submit annually the reports to the State of New Hampshire
- Prepare Weekly Payrolls, and prepare Quarterly/Annual Payroll Tax Returns.
- Answer phones as needed.
- Able to do data entry
- Preform other tasks as they arise for the benefit of the company.
- Above all confidentiality is a must.
Experience
- Proven experience as an Assistant Comptroller or in a similar financial management role for 4 years or more.
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices.
- Familiarity with budgeting processes and financial forecasting techniques.
- Experience with account reconciliation procedures and general ledger management.
- Proficiency in using accounting software such as Sage/Timberline; experience with other systems is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
- Proficient using Excel Spreadsheets, Word documents, and Adobe.
- Experience preparing Payrolls, and Tax Returns.
- Knowledge in data entry.
