Principal Accountabilities
Assist in design of electrical projects and install electrical equipmentCoordinate efforts with other workers involved in installing and maintaining equipment or componentsConsult with operators, supervisors, and engineers to plan layout of equipment and to resolve problems in system operation and maintenanceDetermine feasibility of using standardized equipment and develop specifications for equipment required to perform additional functionsWork with voltage levels up to 480, 4160. Wire Variable Frequency Drive’sStudy blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation proceduresPerform instrumentation calculation, set up of parameters and limitsModify industrial electronic devices, circuits, and equipment in order to meet available specificationsSet up and test industrial equipment to ensure that it functions properlyPerform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, such as checking, cleaning, and repairing equipment, to detect and prevent problems before they occurInspect components of industrial equipment for accurate assembly and installation and for defects such as loose connections and frayed wiresAdvise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardousMaintain equipment logs that record performance problems, repairs, calibrations, and testsExamine work orders and converse with equipment operators to detect equipment problems and to ascertain whether mechanical or human errors contributed to the problemsOperate equipment to demonstrate proper use and to analyze malfunctionsRepair, install and adjust equipment, machines, and defective components, replacing worn parts such as gaskets and seals in watertight electrical equipmentInstall coaxial or fiber optic cable for computers and other telecommunications equipmentMaintain inventory of spare parts. Send defective units to the manufacturer or to a specialized repair shop for repairWhen breakdowns occur, make necessary repairs as quickly as possible in order to minimize inconvenienceTest faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test equipment and software, and applying knowledge of the functional operation of electronic units and systemsWork extended shifts to support the facility which may require coming in early, before normal shift and staying over later than normal shiftShort notice may be given when coming in early or staying over late. May be called in to make repairs on nights, weekends or holidaysBe flexible and adapt to changing prioritiesMust follow the National Electric Code; comply with state and Cargill standardsAssist plant with management of outside contracted electrical projects for quality to comply with Cargill specificationsParticipates in ongoing skill level improvement training and apply what is learnedPerforms all requested tasks professionally and in a reasonable time frameIs flexible and able to adapt to changing prioritiesWork indoors and outdoors in a plant environmentEnter confined spaces under proper permit conditions and supervisionTroubleshoot problems as requiredMaintain a safe and sanitary atmosphereInspect buildings, grounds, and equipment utilized by facility; determine immediate and long range needs for maintenance and repair workEnter notifications utilizing maintenance computer programUnderstand and adhere to state and federal Occupational Safety and Health rules and regulations as related to plant safetyFollow all Cargill safety rules and regulations, including use of proper PPEComplete all housekeeping assignments, work to improve the condition of the department, and work as a team member with a positive attitudeAttend various mandatory safety and department meetingsCommunicate in a courteous and positive manner to accomplish duties effectively, working as a team with all involvedAssist other plant personnel as needed and will perform any other duty as requested by the supervisorRequired Qualifications

Experience with wiring and programing Allen Bradley Programmable Logic ControllersExperience using electrical test equipment to perform analysis and troubleshootingKnowledge of the National Electric CodeMechanical aptitude to work from all types of blueprints, maintenance manuals, and drawingsApprentice, Journeyman or above license with the state of Nebraska or equivalentA 2-year degree in electromechanical, electrical system, or equivalentPlease note that this position does not include relocation reimbursement.
