Scope of Position
The Cafeteria Attendant assists with preparation, transport, and service of food and beverage items in the employee cafeteria ensuring a high level of quality and consistency. Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in the cafeteria and food prep areas that meet the state and local Health Board inspection and hotel requirements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare cold food and batch items including sandwiches, salads, cold drinks and desserts; follow food preparation and usage instructions to minimize waste.
- Transport prepared food from kitchen to cafeteria; set up all stations which may include soup, salad, beverage, bread, hot food buffet, etc. Replenish stations as needed throughout shift.
- Perform associated opening, closing and prep work duties.
- Ensure adequate supply of trays, plates, utensils, napkins, condiments, and other cafeteria supplies to serve all hotel associates.
- Wipe down chairs and tables; sweep or mop floors; bus tables; empty trash containers; clean cafeteria equipment such as coffee makers, microwaves and steam tables; and ensure general cleanliness of cafeteria on a regular basis.
- Maintain a clean, neat and well-organized work area, including but not limited to reach-ins, walk-ins and counters. Report all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment, safety hazards, or maintenance problems to management.
- Serve meals to associates based on established procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate in the English language (Second language is a plus).
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling, cleaning techniques and use of equipment and machinery.
- Willing to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends.
- Ability to multitask and think clearly in high stress and intense situations.
Physical Requirements
- Physical agility and ability to move quickly in confined spaces.
- Requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift.
- Ability to push / pull 100 lbs. and lift 50 lbs.
- Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
- Work in areas of high heat and humidity.
