ED RN

In this role, you will provide comprehensive care to patients through the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. You will work alongside other healthcare professionals to ensure that patient care is effective and that desired outcomes are met. Your ability to communicate effectively with patients and their families, while adhering to professional nursing standards, will be key. As an ER RN, you will be responsible for treating patients with a wide range of emergencies and must be skilled in identifying and managing life-threatening conditions.

Core Responsibilities

• Applies the clinical discipline of professional nursing through the nursing process.
  • Collects current symptoms as well as a detailed patient history and then consults and coordinates with the health care team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
  • Performs triage while considering both physical and psychosocial elements
  • Manages basic life support needs an stabilizes patients until the attending physician is available based upon nursing standards and protocol
  • Initiates corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomology
  • Records patient vital signs
  • Works directly under physicians, assisting them during exams, diagnostic testing and treatments
  • Prepares and administers and records prescribed medications Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse
  • Provides IV therapy
  • Cleans and bandages wounds
  • Provides basic bedside care
  • Maintains proper supplies and appropriate medical equipment to care for patients
  • Report any suspected abuse to the appropriate agencies
  • Initiates patient education plan as prescribed by the physician. Teach patients and significant others how to manage their illness/injury by explaining post-treatment home care needs, diet/nutrition/exercise programs, self-administration of medication and rehabilitation, as well as provides referrals to other healthcare professionals for follow up treatment.
  • Displays professionalism while completing multiple urgent tasks in a timely manner
  • Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely in the E.H.R in a timely manner
  • Float among various clinical services where qualified as needed.
• The professional nurse demonstrates ability to perform technical tasks and procedures safely and accurately.
  • The RN successfully completed the performance standards inclusive of the yearly competencies for the primary area.
  • Follows all National and facility standards for safe medication administration and security using resources available and critical thinking skills.
  • Effectively assists in the orientation of new employees when requested.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Assumes the role of patient advocate. Actively observing and carefully watching for any unintended or unanticipated events that could compromise the patient.
  • Ability to monitor patient during ambulance transport of patients to other facilities.

Work Environment
This job operates in a hospital setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the hospital. This role will likely come in contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. There is risk of exposure to blood and bodily fluids, latex, and odors/chemicals. Must be able to maintain a stable posture and gait with hands free to perform anticipated or routine and emergent patient care.

Required:

• Licensed RN in the State of Idaho
• ACLS, PALS, BLS Certifications within 6 months of hire

Preferred:

• Med/Surg experience
• STABLE, and ECCO course completion
