We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled EKG Technician to join our healthcare team. The EKG Technician will be responsible for performing electrocardiograms (EKGs) and ankle-brachial index screenings (ABIs) in an outpatient clinic setting. This role requires technical expertise, patient care skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key responsibilities:
· Perform routine electrocardiograms (EKGs) and ankle-brachial index (ABIs) screenings on patients as ordered by providers.
· Prepare patients for EKG and ABI testing by explaining the process and ensuring their comfort.
· Provide patient education in Holter monitor, Continuous Ambulatory monitor, and home sleep study setup as ordered by providers.
· Document test results and ensure proper entry into the electronic medical record (EMR).
· Follow all infection control and safety protocols to maintain a clean and safe environment.
· Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to support patient care.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· Certified EKG Technician (CET) or equivalent certification preferred.
· Previous experience in a cardiovascular clinic or other healthcare setting preferred.
· Strong understanding of proper EKG lead placement, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
· Proficiency in operating EKG machines and related diagnostic equipment.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
· Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain attention to detail.
Work Environment:
· Outpatient clinic/medical office setting.
· May require standing for extended periods assisting with patient testing.
