Job Summary
Performs listed vascular testing procedures per IAC standard protocol. Assists in the implementation of procedures and participates in ongoing Performance Improvement program.
Expected Competency in the listed exams below but not limited to: Carotid Artery Duplex, Peripheral Venous/Arterial Duplex, Venous reflux testing, Hemodialysis graft/fistula, Abdominal Aorta, Mesenteric, Renal Artery, peripheral and abdominal graft/stents, peripheral vein mapping, ABI, Segmental Pressure.
Education/Training: Associates degree/ Bachelors degree/certification in Vascular Ultrasound required.
License/Certification/Registration: ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) registration or registry-eligible in Vascular Technology, or RVS (Registered Vascular Specialist) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Good mathematical and organizational skills. Ability to recognize emergency medical situations, verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills preferred.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Adheres to departmental Safety and Infection Control programs.
Cleans, disinfects and maintains Vascular Lab equipment as per department protocol.
Reports patient or associate injuries as per established protocol.
Ensures completeness of required patient data prior to billing and interpretation.
Completes all related procedures prior to performance of test procedure.
Assists with planning, coordination and scheduling of all vascular testing procedures in a timely manner. Assists in maintaining Vascular Lab supply Inventory.
Communicates information about specific test(s) to the patient and/or family explaining procedure prior to testing.
Consistently performs technically adequate vascular testing procedures.
Performs vascular-related patient history and physical examination prior to testing.
Obtains and records optimal gray scale and color flow images).
Obtains and records optimal Doppler signals, measurements and calculations.
During the test procedure, identifies and documents vascular abnormalities related to the patient's symptoms and/or diagnosis. Immediately notifies the physician/Vascular Surgeon of any serious abnormalities identified during the procedure.
