Job Summary
Primarily responsible for providing friendly, attentive, unobtrusive and accurate service by the pools and on the beach and to create an exceptional dining and drinking experience for all of our guests. Each server’s primary objective is to create a nurturing environment for our guests, ensure our guests’ ultimate satisfaction, upsell food and drink and promote Carillon Miami Wellness Resort. Supervised by the Beach and Pool Food & Beverage Manager.
I. Essential Job Functions
A. Greets and offers food and beverage to all guests at Seaglass Cafe, pools chairs, and beach chairs requesting assistance when needed
B. Offers menus, makes recommendations and performs suggestive selling.
C. Conversant and knowledgeable of all food and beverage products and services.
D. Takes food orders from guests and enters orders into the POS system, which relays the orders to the food preparation area and the bar.
E. Upsells food and beverage menu items.
F. Delivers food and beverage to guests in a timely manner.
G. Performs side work at the start and end of each shift.
H. Maintains clean service area.
I. Monitors and observes guests dining experience.
J. Ensures guests are satisfied with the food, beverage and service.
K. Responds promptly and courteously to any requests.
L. Prepares and presents final bill, accepts, processes and secures final payment; makes change (if applicable).
M. Ready and willing to assist fellow servers as needed and to assist the runners with clearing and resetting.
N. Performs service recovery as required to ensure complete guest satisfaction.
O. Adheres to responsible alcohol service guidelines.
P. Available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by management.
Q. Ensures compliance with all cash handling and bill handling policies and procedures.
R. Is extremely knowledgeable on the menu, the ingredients and the overall F&B offering of the property in order to better answer guest questions.
S. Adheres to Carillon Miami Wellness Resort standards for guest services.
T. Refers guest opportunities or complaints to supervisor when applicable, to ensure full resolution.
U. Reports and documents any observed or known safety hazards, conditions or unsafe practices and procedures to management immediately.
V. Performs other job-related duties as directed.
II. Education, Experience and Skill Requirement
A. Ability to learn and master the POS system.
B. Able to handle and be responsible for cash transactions.
C. ServSafe certified.
D. Must be able to read, write and speak English.
E. Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
F. Must possess a personable, cheerful demeanor, be well groomed and be able to remain calm under pressure.
G. Guest service skills or training are preferred.
H. Must be able to gracefully carry trays with food and drinks on them.
I. Must possess pride in The Carillon Hotel and Spa’s Standards of food service and be guest-service oriented.
J. Must have at least 2-3 years of experience as a server in a high-traffic restaurant.
K. Must be able to work flexible hours, breakfast, lunch and or dinner shifts, weekends and holidays.
