Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Chaplain to provide spiritual care and support within our organization. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of hospice care and bereavement support, with a strong ability to lead, educate, and mentor individuals through challenging times. This role is essential in fostering a supportive environment for patients, families, and staff, ensuring that spiritual needs are met with empathy and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Provide spiritual care to patients and their families in hospice settings, addressing their emotional and spiritual needs.
- Conducts assessments of hospice patients and family spiritual needs.
- Offer bereavement support to families coping with loss, facilitating healing through compassionate communication.
- Lead Bereavement Program
- Provide crisis intervention as needed, offering immediate support during critical situations.
- Integral part of the interdisciplinary care team and participates in the development of the interdisciplinary group (IDG) plan of care to meet identified spiritual needs.
- Serves as a liaison and support to community clergy and spiritual counselors.
- Provides consultation, education, and support regarding spiritual issues and care to the IDG members and facility staff.
Experience
- Proven experience in hospice care or similar environments is preferred.
- Strong background in bereavement support and crisis intervention techniques.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to educate and mentor others effectively.
- Ability to write clearly and effectively for various audiences, including patients, families, and staff.
Education
- College degree required; Masters of Divinity preferred
