What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospice Program Director position at Caring Hospice Services?
The Program Director oversees the day to day management and operation of the hospice program. The Director ensures hospice services are delivered in an efficient and cost effective manner maximizing customer satisfaction. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.
Reports to the Chief Operations Officer.
The Director will manage Honor hospice on behalf of Caring Hospice.
Qualifications:
- BSN and hospice management experience.
RN with MI license required
- Knowledge of third part reimbursement, marketing and sales.
- Ability to read and interpret industry publications and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to organize and manage staff, operations and systems.
- Knowledge of computer software i.e. Microsoft word, excel, Outlook.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract concrete variables.
- Demonstrates self-directed activity and organizes work effectively and efficiently.
- Demonstrates ability to analyze financial data and reports.
- Demonstrates effective writing and speaking skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required to meet identified needs.
- Possess a strong commitment to the goals, mission and philosophy of the organization.
- Participates in hiring qualified personnel and managers for their Caring Hospice Services program.
- Establishes and maintains community contacts necessary to the operation of their hospice program.
- Prepares required reports for the Department of Health (state specific as needed), Joint Commission and other accrediting agencies and maintains compliance.
- Assures appropriate implementation and maintenance personnel policies, procedures, staff orientation, education and records for their Caring Hospice program.
- Planning and administering the managerial, operational, fiscal and reporting components of the Program.
- Maintains liaison and assures preparation of reports for the Governing Body of Caring Hospice Services, the professional advisory committee, the Regional Director of Quality Assurance.
- Reviews, evaluates and suggest revisions to the Regional Director of QAPI of Caring Hospice Policies, procedures and standards as required.
- Assures appropriate intake for all patients enrolling in the program. Assumes responsibility for admissions and intake assuring appropriate patients are enrolled in hospice and that accurate/complete demographic/clinical data is obtained.
- Conducts educational programs for current and prospective clients.
- Evaluates the employees under his/her supervision and documents the results.
- Investigates complaints and takes appropriate action.
- Organizes the review, analysis and appraisal of the agency’s total program annually.
- Direct day to day management operations of their Caring Hospice Services Program.
- Oversees the financial management of the hospice ensuring appropriate application of the approved budget and arranging for of the fiscal audits.
- Makes written and oral reports/recommendations to the Governing Body as necessary concerning the operations of their Program.
- Ensures that appropriate action is taken to correct problems identified by QAPI, audits patient complaints, patient/family recommendations, etc.
- Ensures the provision of services and general operation of the hospice conform to all applicable federal, state and local statutes regulations.
- Develops and/or directs an effective staff training and development program for program personnel. Identifies areas in need of growth, provides opportunities for growth conducts competency/proficiency reviews.
- Interfaces with HR department re: compliance and human resources management as needed.
- Ensure that 24-hour coverage/service availability is maintained on an ongoing basis.
