Job Summary: The Cook will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appetizing meals for residents of the skilled nursing facility. Responsibilities
- Prepare meals for residents of the skilled nursing facility that meet their dietary requirements and preferences.
- Follow recipes and cooking techniques to ensure that meals are nutritious, appetizing, and visually appealing.
- Work with the Dietary Manager to plan menus and ensure that all meals meet the nutritional needs of the residents.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of garbage.
- Ensure that all food safety standards are met, including proper storage, handling, and cooking temperatures.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure that meals are prepared and served on time.
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking of food and kitchen supplies.
- Provide input on the development of new menu items and recipes.
- Participate in training and development activities as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary degree or certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a cook in a healthcare or institutional setting.
- Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements for older adults.
- Ability to follow recipes and cooking techniques to ensure that meals are nutritious, appetizing, and visually appealing.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other kitchen staff and communicate effectively with residents and staff members.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
