Food Preparation & Cooking:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
Previous experience in food service is preferred, but not required
Must have strong communication and customer service skills
Must be able to follow directions and work as part of a team
Ability to lift to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
Working Conditions
The Relief Cook will work in a skilled nursing facility kitchen, which may be hot and noisy. The job requires standing for extended periods of time and lifting up to 50 pounds. The Relief Cook will work with kitchen equipment and tools, including knives and food processors, which require proper safety precautions. The job will require working weekends and holidays.

Job Description
Food Preparation & Cooking:
- Prepare and cook meals according to menu plans, recipes, and dietary requirements.
- Ensure all meals are of high quality, visually appealing, and served at appropriate temperatures.
- Adjust recipes to accommodate special dietary needs or requests (e.g., allergies, vegetarian, low-sodium).
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of food items.
- Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the kitchen, including countertops, equipment, and storage areas.
- Monitor and record temperatures of food and equipment to ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Assist with menu planning and food inventory management as needed.
- Check and replenish stock to avoid shortages; inform the Kitchen Manager of required supplies.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment such as ovens, fryers, and mixers safely.
- Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure meal preparation runs smoothly.
- Provide guidance and support to other kitchen personnel as required.
- Communicate effectively with other departments to meet service expectations.
- Assist with serving meals during peak times, as needed.
