The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing the mission of Caring & Sharing of South Walton by leveraging the talents and time of volunteers, sharing our community impact, and fostering relationships that drive support for our programs. This role is responsible for volunteer coordination, event planning, donor engagement, and marketing communications to enhance our organizational reach and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Volunteer Coordination
- Recruitment & Retention: Lead efforts to recruit, onboard, and retain a skilled volunteer taskforce that is passionate about the mission of Caring & Sharing.
- Volunteer Scheduling: Oversee volunteer schedules for daily operations and for individuals completing community service.
- Training & Support: Conduct interviews, orientations, and training for volunteers, ensuring they are equipped for their roles and understand the organization's needs.
- Volunteer Database Management: Maintain a master list of active volunteers, including contact details, skillsets, availability, and assignment history.
- Communication & Engagement: Regularly communicate volunteer needs and schedule updates through weekly emails, social media, and volunteer meetings.
- Quarterly & Annual Recognition: Coordinate volunteer meetings and work with the Director of Operations to plan the Annual Meeting to recognize volunteer contributions.
- Reporting & Documentation: Track volunteer hours and activities and provide monthly reports to the Board of Directors and contribute to the Annual Report.
Event Coordination
- Signature Events: Collaborate with the Executive Director to plan and execute three major signature events each year – Spring Fashion Show, Fall Fashion Show, and Pairing & Sharing Wine Dinner.
- Third-Party Events: Support the planning and execution of external events benefiting the organization (e.g., Legacy Five Concert, Cafe Thirty-A Christmas Charity Ball).
- Volunteer Management for Events: Coordinate volunteer recruitment, training, and scheduling for events, ensuring smooth operations.
- Event Follow-up: Manage post-event tasks, including sending thank-you notes to donors and volunteers, gathering feedback, and updating donor information.
Marketing & Communications
- Social Media Management: Oversee and maintain social media accounts for Caring & Sharing of South Walton, including Facebook and Instagram for both the organization and the Thrift Store.
- Email Marketing: Develop and distribute monthly e-blasts using platforms like Constant Contact to keep supporters informed and engaged.
- Promotional Materials: Coordinate the creation and distribution of printed materials, signage, and promotional products as needed for events, volunteer recruitment, and community engagement efforts.
Development Support
- Community Engagement: Represent Caring & Sharing of South Walton at community events and engage with potential supporters and partners.
- Donor Stewardship: Ensure that donors receive timely and personalized thank-you notes, receipts, and recognition for their contributions.
- Communications for Fundraising: Assist the development team with crafting newsletters, appeals, and impact reports to keep donors informed and motivated.
- Research and Outreach: Help identify new potential donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors through research and community outreach.
- Fundraising Strategy Support: Assist in tracking donor trends and contributing to strategies that align with fundraising goals and organizational priorities.
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
- Educational background or experience in fields such as nonprofit management, social work, marketing and communications, or family sciences.
- A minimum of two years' experience working in the nonprofit sector and with diverse populations.
Desired Qualifications:
- Spanish Speaking Abilities.
- Public speaking experience is preferred.

Working Environment:
Caring & Sharing of South Walton operates as a food pantry, warehouse, and retail shop, and employees may be required to perform tasks both indoors and outdoors. The work may take place in various weather conditions, so flexibility and adaptability are important.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires a moderate level of physical activity. Responsibilities may include standing, walking, reaching, and the ability to lift and carry objects up to 25 pounds.
