What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer with CaringEdge position at CaringEdge?
Volunteering with CaringEdge hospice is an unpaid opportunity to enrich your life while touching the lives of others. Our primary focus is to bring care, comfort, and compassion to patients and their families during their time of need.
Our volunteer services program offers quality and comfort to each of our patients. Volunteer opportunities are contingent on a background check, and hours are based on each patient’s request, making the opportunities flexible. Volunteers help our patients in the following ways:
- Companionship. Spend time with patients by sharing interests, reading, listening to music, and being present so they’re not alone.
- Respite Visit. Allows time for family members and caregivers to recharge.
- Vigil. During late and difficult hours, our volunteers stay with patients to ensure they are not alone during their final moments.
- Sewing Memory Bears. Create a lasting gift for grieving families from an article of our patient’s clothing.
- Office Support. Assist volunteer coordinator with clerical duties. May consist of filing, mailings, data entry, assemble admission packets.
- Bereavement support. Assist hospice chaplain with clerical duties and monthly bereavement support group meetings.
