Field Service Representative

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt                                                        Reports to: Director of Warehouse Operations

 

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm                     Positions Supervised: NA

 


POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Field Service Representative will report to the Director of Warehouse Operations or his designee. These individuals must maintain the outmost professional interactions with internal and external customers and clients. The incumbent must be detailed oriented and can multitask on various duties. The responsibilities include meeting with field technicians and/or contractors to guide them to the appropriate area in the company premises and/or buildings. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring all warehouse equipment/machinery, elevators, vehicles, are operating to standard regulations. The incumbent must work closely with all departments and communicate any emerging problems immediately and demonstrate a sense of urgency.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Evaluates situations and events (e.g. involving other staff, the public, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action and/or directing appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Maintains service records of Preventative Maintenance on all Vehicles, Trucks, Tractors, Order Pickers, Forklifts, TSP’s, Trailers.
  • Prepare and maintain records detailing tests, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Inspect equipment to locate or identify electrical problems.
    • Ask questions and perform troubleshooting on the equipment to ascertain the problem.
      • Fix issues whilst on site. If the issue is not repairable, for example, if it needs a new part, then contact field technician to arrange the order and delivery of the required part.
      • Ensure that safety and work guidelines are followed, and keep in line with service schedule and manufacturer recommendations when working on any equipment.
  • Write service notes, repair notes, and recommendations, such as replacement if required.
  • Maintains company property and assets in accordance with established policies.
  • Provide timely, detailed and accurate reports on service work performed, product performance, and warranty liabilities.
  • Maintain all Annual Inspections and Certifications for Elevators, Sprinklers, Fire Systems, Fire and Alarm, Generators,
  • Maintain updated records of all registrations and insurances for Vehicles, Trucks, Tractors, and Trailers.
  • Performs record keeping (confidential and non-confidential) and general and program specific clerical functions (e.g. scheduling, copying, faxing, etc.) for the purpose of supporting assigned administrator with necessary materials.
  • Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. correspondence, memos, fiscal and statistical reports, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.
  • Processes documents and materials (e.g. bid packets, contracts, specifications, purchase requisitions, mail, etc.) for the purpose of disseminating information in compliance with program, district, state and/or federal requirements.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

High School Diploma or GED. A minimum of 2 years warehouse experience or a combination of experience and education in a related field. 3-12 months of forklift experience and forklift license required. Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.

Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Materials — Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.

Repairing and Maintaining Mechanical Equipment — Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical (not electronic) principles. Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates — Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.

Ability to test electrical equipment or systems to ensure proper functioning. Ability to Inspect equipment to locate or identify electrical problems.

Clean equipment, parts, or tools to repair or maintain them in good working order. Maintain inventories of materials, equipment, or products.

Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word. Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.

Ability to work at a sustained pace and produce quality work.

Ability to demonstrate conducts conforming to a set of values and accepted standards. Ability to exhibit a cheerful demeanor toward others.

Ability to focus on a goal and obtain a pre-determined result.

Ability to decide correct course of action when some choice can be made. Ability to act calmly under stress and strain, and of not being hasty or impetuous. Ability to be held accountable or answerable to one’s conduct.

Ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations. Ability to follow company procedures.

Ability to work overtime and weekends during busy season is a must.


 

COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) DC Link & JD Edward preferred, RF Scanner.

Other Physical Requirements

Vision (Near, Distance, Peripheral, and Depth Perception) The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing date and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading.

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

Working conditions transition from Office to Warehouse:

  • Warehouse Climate – Exposure to heat and cold. This job requires working exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting.
  • Office Conditions are good. Physical demands are normal and that of regular conditions such as sitting, standing and walking.
  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body.
