The Healing Place (THP), as one of the five programs of this thriving non-profit, is a long-term, peer-driven residential recovery program serving the Greater Richmond community. Here at THP, men and women suffering from Substance Use Disorder carve pathways to sobriety, employment, and spiritual wellness. This position provides supervision and guidance in the Safe Off the Streets (SOTS) center.
Position Summary
Monitors provide empathy and support to new participants as they enter our SOTS center, 24 hour, intake center into THP. As new participants stabilize from substance use disorder, Monitors are responsible for orienting them into the Recovery Program and helping them feel safe and secure.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate supervision of participants during their stabilization process in SOTS.
- Ensure participants understand and are willing to adhere to proper policies and procedures.
- Implement CARITAS values with participants, volunteers, vendors and staff.
- Attend all scheduled mandatory meetings.
Primary duties
- Completes proper intake paperwork for SOTS participants with accuracy and attention to
detail. - Provides compassionate supervision of participants during their stabilization process in SOTS.
- Submit incident reports relevant to participants, staff and facilities in the THP Incident Report
Form - Ensures participants understand and are willing to adhere to proper policies and procedures.
- Provides information on the Recovery Program and encourages participation and support.
- During evening and overnight shift, monitors all recovery program participants' activities to
include scheduled AA meetings, evening educational sessions and scheduled fresh air breaks. - Performs scheduled rounds of the Recovery Program facility to assess and monitor for safety.
- Responds to emergencies appropriately and monitors security.
- Engages and oversees volunteers participating in program activities.
- Promotes a clean, orderly and sanitary facility and grounds.
- Perform Intake/Random breathalyzer and drug screens. Document results.
- Ensures all participants adhere to the curfew regulations and are accounted for, at roll call, in
all phases of the Recovery Program.
Qualifications
- Ability to work well with program participants.
- Skilled in conflict resolution and ability to calmly and professionally de-escalate crisis situations.
- Ability to handle emergencies.
- Good oral and written communications skills.
- Valid T.B. test within 2 weeks of being hired.
- Current CPR certification required within 45 days of being hired.
