Job Title : RN UP
Job Specialty : Surgical Care - CMH Surgical 4H
Job Duration : 13 Weeks
Shift : Night; 7 : 00 PM - 7 : 30 AM (3x12 Hr)
Guaranteed Hours : 36.00 Hours / Week
Experience : Minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience
License : RN License in good standing
Certifications : BLS (American Heart Association)
Must-Have : English proficiency (Read, Write, Speak), Basic computer knowledge
Job Description :
- Contribute professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients through the nursing process.
- Promote evidence-based practice through nursing protocols and procedures.
- Assess patient's status through interview, observation, and physical assessment.
- Develop an individualized plan of care using a collaborative approach with the patient / family and healthcare team.
- Use appropriate interventions identified in the plan of care to achieve expected patient outcomes.
- Systematically evaluate and document patient's progress toward expected outcomes / goals throughout the shift.
- Modify plan of care based on evaluation and changes in patient condition.
- Complete required documentation appropriately, including patient charts and event reports.
- Demonstrate professional accountability through continued self-development.
- Demonstrate technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Maintain current knowledge and skills in evidence-based nursing practice.
- Promote professional development of self and team members through informal teaching.
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills in patient moving and handling.
- Promote patient and staff safety through appropriate use of equipment.
- Obtain adequate lab specimens for testing and perform bedside lab testing in compliance with orders and hospital procedures.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary care through collaboration with team members.
- Analyze clinical situations and act to obtain resources or correct problems.
- Recognize need for assistance and utilize resources, including physician and peer consultation.
- Demonstrate persistence to ensure problems are resolved effectively.
- Handle non-complex and some complex patient management assignments.
- Prioritize work based on changes in patient condition and assignment interruptions.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team in organizing tasks for patient care from admission to discharge.
- Delegate tasks and activities appropriately within the team.
- Provide goal-focused shift reports and advocate for patients with physicians when necessary.
- Utilize communication and teamwork strategies for optimal patient outcomes and unit productivity.
- Use appropriate communication styles and feedback methods when interacting with others.
- Assess and choose teaching strategies appropriate for patient and family needs.
- Adapt teaching methods based on patient's response, readiness to learn, and comprehension level.
