About the Role
As a skilled Pediatric Behavioral Health Nurse at Carle Health System, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care to children and adolescents experiencing psychiatric conditions. Under the direction of a healthcare provider, you will utilize your nursing expertise to provide systematic assessments, develop personalized plans, implement effective interventions, and evaluate patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers and clinical staff in obtaining basic vital information, preparing patients for examination and treatment, and providing direct patient care.
- May be required to draw and collect blood and other samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Apply the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation) within licensure guidelines to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Provide telephone triage by offering advice for home care of illness or conditions, documenting conversations, and conducting follow-up phone calls as necessary.
- Schedule referrals for patients with specialists or outpatient services as requested by healthcare providers.
- Complete necessary forms or requisitions for referrals or lab testing, including accurate coding.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
