- Responsibilities Performs routine and complex sonography imaging by acquiring and processingpatient exams in accordance with accreting bodies andor manufacturerguidelines and as outlined in department protocols. Selects proper sonographyprotocols and techniques to obtain optimal data. Reviews cases with theMaternal Fetal Medicine provider when appropriate. Reviews labs and patienthistory to perform correct exam. Responsible to review ultrasound orders forcompleteness and accuracy. Reviews patient history and supporting clinicaldata for medical necessity. Takes steps to acquire additional information ifneeded from the patient, ordering provider andor MFM provider. Demonstratesacceptable imaging quality standards by critiquing positioning, technicalfactors and alignment. Reviews patient data for accuracy, quality andcompleteness. Transfers and verifies image data in PACS and other digital andreporting systems providing necessary medical history and information for MFMprovider interpretation. Utilizes the web servers and email systems to sendexams for preliminary readings after hours. Responsible for maintainingimaging equipment and workplace environment including maintaining supplyinventories and orderliness of work area. Recognizes malfunctions and serviceneeds and reports service needs in a timely manner. Ensures patient, visitorand environmental safety. Reports safety events immediately including thosethat are a near miss. Assists in instruction of students and new staff asnecessary. May perform duties of Sono Lead or Imaging Coordinator in hisherabsence. Meets productivity levels as established by department benchmarking.Assists other areas during downtimes so to maintain productivity. May berequired to perform duties of other modalities within the department to whichlicensers are held by the technologistsonographer. Complies with other jobdescriptions of cross-trained modalities also performed within the department.Participate in educational activities within the scope of ultrasound. This mayinclude presentations for CME credit. Create AS OB reports following eachultrasound performed. Follow protocol to provide additional imaging as needed,based on findings during an OB ultrasound exam. About Us
