Position Summary :
The Certified Surgical Technician provides clinical expertise in both the delivery room and the OR within Labor and Delivery. Duties may also include clerical support and activities related to personal care and hygiene needs of assigned age-specific population patient group under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Facilitates communication with other departments, visitors, patients, medical staff and employees. Serves a as public relations liaison for the unit.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology or Certificate in Surgical Technology or CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Incumbents in the role as of March 13, 2022 with 10 or more years of experience are grandfathered without the certification requirement upon hire and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Two (2) years as a Surgical Technologist SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Demonstrates advance knowledge and proficient practice in the first scrub role in a majority of surgical procedures including complex cases. Applies knowledge of advanced surgical techniques and knowledge related to surgical procedures and emergency situations. Demonstrates critical thinking skills and anticipates the perioperative needs of the patient and surgeon. Exhibits a high level of collaboration with peers in making decisions related to surgical patient care. Understands, values, and promotes perioperative teamwork.
