Position Overview :

The Admissions Reporting Analyst enhances the College’s understanding of the scope and efficacy of its initiatives for student recruitment, selection, and matriculation. Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean and Director of Admissions Systems, the Reporting Analyst plays a key role in data analysis, program assessment, and internal and external reporting. As a member of the Admissions Systems team, they will work significantly within the Admissions CRM (Slate).

The Reporting Analyst helps colleagues understand the scope and impact of their programmatic initiatives. They also help identify opportunities for refinement and innovation. This may require using data that are small in sample size or otherwise insufficient for a holistic understanding of trends and behavior. As such, the Reporting Analyst should be comfortable navigating both quantitative and qualitative factors.

The Reporting Analyst will also collaborate with the Senior Associate Dean, campus colleagues, and external partners to respond to data requests. This may include satisfying federal reporting requirements, facilitating consortial data exchanges, responding to campus requests for data and summary findings, and presenting results to mixed audiences of constituents. To support accurate, consistent reporting, the Reporting Analyst will play a key role in maintaining excellent database hygiene.

Compensation :

The expected starting hourly range for this position is between $24.40 and $25.75. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.

Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities :

Divisional Reporting, Assessment, and Planning :

  • Produces efficient, sustainable, insightful reports and queries using data from Slate and PowerFAIDS, as well as other data sources.
  • Establishes research questions that align with divisional and College priorities, and translates research findings into actionable opportunities.
  • Connects with divisional teams including Access & Diversity, Communications, Visits, the Alumni Admissions Representative program, and Student Financial Aid to ensure programmatic alignment, equitable allocation of resources, and consistent metrics of success.
  • Frames research in the context of the broader landscape of college education, including awareness of common and “best in class” practices.
  • Presents findings in both informal and formal settings.

External Reporting Beyond the Division :

  • Reports Admissions data for publicly-published resources which establish and maintain the College’s prominence, bond ratings, and other reputational factors.
  • Creates annual reports to share divisional outcomes with campus partners.
  • Serves on college committees and collaborates with other offices and departments at the college to support the College’s culture of reporting.
  • Database Stewardship :

  • Contributes to a robust enrollment database with accurately populated data for students, counselors, organizations, alumni volunteers, and other records.
  • Maintains an accurate divisional data dictionary and builds query library components in Slate CRM to support consistent data references.
  • Identifies and implements new opportunities to collect and reflect on meaningful data from the enrollment lifecycle.
  • Teaches users how to build and maintain queries and reports using the latest functionality and “best in class” approaches in the Slate CRM.
  • Guides student workers through various ongoing and one-time projects.
  • Maintains a high degree of discretion and confidentiality, and follows best practices in data security.
  • Additional Job Responsibilities :

  • Education / Experience / Skills :

    Required :

  • Bachelor’s degree in any major, with significant college-level coursework in quantitative research methods. Candidates without a bachelor’s degree who otherwise meet the requirements are encouraged to apply with explanation of their educational history.
  • Familiarity with practices, policies, and trends in highly selective college admissions and financial aid.
  • Experience presenting research findings to audiences with varying levels of familiarity with the subject matter.
  • Commitment to a high level of database integrity, as evidenced by experience working in a database or with a dataset that required a high level of precision, security, and / or maintenance.
  • Demonstrated commitment to strengthening inclusion, diversity, and equity, and to supporting a student body that is broadly diverse with regard to gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, and religion, among other factors.
  • Evidence of creativity and innovation in problem solving and strategy implementation.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex issues with clarity to a variety of non-technical and technical users.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • A willingness and ability to work extended and weekend hours during peak periods.
  • Strong understanding of the nature and aims of a selective, residential liberal arts college.
  • Leadership skills : Highly collaborative, dynamic, empathetic, patient, curious, diplomatic, resourceful, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
  • Preferred :

  • Bachelor’s degree with an academic major rooted in quantitative research methods, including a quantitative senior thesis or other representative quantitative research project.
  • A portfolio of prior research : as part of the job application review process, candidates may be asked to submit samples of their work with the following specifications : samples with data tables or charts; samples with an executive summary and non-technical data visualization; samples of research with both quantitative and qualitative components (“mixed methods”).
  • 1 years of experience building accurate queries and reports within Slate CRM.
  • 1 years of work in college admissions or financial aid.
  • Experience teaching others how to navigate a reporting tool (Slate CRM, Tableau, PowerBI, charts in Excel or Google Sheets, etc.)
  • Must have the ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions, operations, safety procedures, and hazardous labels.
