The Carleton College Department of Mathematics and Statistics anticipates hiring one or more Visiting Assistant Professors in Mathematics for a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal for a second year to begin September 1, 2025. PhD or Master’s in hand by that date is required. (Candidates holding a master's degree would be hired at the rank of Instructor.) Teaching responsibilities will include six courses spread out over our calendar of three ten-week terms.

Located in the thriving two-college town of Northfield, Minnesota, it is forty-five miles from the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, in easy reach of a vibrant metropolitan area that is home to three million people and rich cultural resources. The seventeen-member Department of Mathematics and Statistics resides in a modern building with excellent facilities including a dedicated computing lab, math skills tutoring center, student space, and collaboratory. The faculty is passionate about teaching and active in scholarship. There are opportunities for interested individuals to supervise undergraduate research projects, both during the academic year and during summers. We are particularly interested in applicants who have a demonstrated commitment to attracting and retaining students from underserved groups. The expected starting salary range for this position is between $72,000 and $76,775. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
