What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Lab Technician position at Carlex Glass America, LLC.?
The Quality Control Fabrication Lab is a customer service-oriented area that supports the windshield and body glass production processes at the Nashville Glass Plant. The lab’s primary service is monitoring the windshield and body glass process conditions based on sample test results. Windshields are tested according to FMVSS requirements. The Federal Government mandates the FMVSS requirements.
The lab technicians test samples according to a frequency that is dictated by the area control plan. The control plan is a document used to outline the lab’s scope. It includes the actual tests performed and dictates how to respond to the test results. The lab technician is responsible for communicating test results to production management and quality personnel as required.
The data collected in the Fabrication Lab is legal data that could be used for legal purposes including evidence in court cases. Because of this, the data is recorded in bound books and each Lab tech is required to enter the data correctly and to record initials. Certain testing results will require reporting to be in an electronic format such as Excel or Word documents. Lab technicians are held accountable for all entries and test results recorded.
