Job Description
R&D projects in the weatherproofing industry may include formulation and physical property testing or test method development of coatings, adhesives, sealants, water/weather proofing, and asphalt systems. The goal is to enable interns to make a meaningful impact through new product development, quality improvement, sustainability, process optimization, or fundamental research.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and research project background and status with a mentor
- Make novel observations
- Collect and interpret data
- Draw sound conclusions based on data analysis
- Summarize work and write standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Present project reviews before colleagues and peers
- Other duties as assigned
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as SOPs, ASTM tests, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage several projects at one time
- Junior or senior enrolled in an accredited four-year institution
- Minimum 3.0 GPA required
- Major in chemistry, polymer science, or materials science
- Previous internship experience a plus
