Job Summary
Insulspan (a Carlisle Company), the premier supplier of high performance structural insulated panels (SIPs) for use as walls, roofs, and floors in residential and commercial structures. Our high quality SIPs are precision made in two factories, located in Michigan and British Columbia and shipped to a growing customer base across the United States and Canada.
The Architectural CAD Designer/Drafter position focuses on the design and development of energy-efficient building solutions for residential and commercial structures. This role involves creating precise and accurate CAD designs for building components, working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to support project success.
The role is ideal for individuals with strong drafting and design expertise who are passionate about sustainable building practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Utilize AutoCAD Architecture and hsbCAD, an add-on software package, to translate architectural plans into manufacturing and site erection drawings
- Utilize design tools to calculate required sizing for the SIP structure
- Coordinate with customers and Sales to fully understand the project scope of work
- Provide excellent customer service while communicating with customers
- Regularly and consistently document project statuses and customer communications
- Create 2D part drawings for the manufacturing plant to utilize
- Program the CNC panel cutting machine
- Work efficiently to meet deadlines and target design hours
- Work overtime as required

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge: SIP Industry knowledge and experience
- Skills: Excellent organizational, decision making, and problem solving skills, strong computer skills
- Abilities: Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously, must be able to maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity
Education and Experience:
- Required:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or technical field required
- Minimum 2 years AutoCAD experience required
- Preferred:
- Experience in residential and/or commercial construction preferred
Working Conditions:
- The majority of the work will be conducted in an office environment
- The role may involve extended periods of sitting and using a computer.
- Typical conditions include working indoors in a climate-controlled environment.
