Carlisle Construction Materials, a globally recognized leader in manufacturing premium building products and related technologies, has an immediate opening for a Improvement Engineer at its CCM Poly-Iso plant in Tooele, UT .
The Carlisle Operating System (COS) drives continuous improvement across Carlisle Construction Materials. The COS Improvement Process Engineer II serves as the primary resource for leading continuous improvement initiatives at CCM locations. This individual will collaborate with business leaders, plant management, and local COS teams to support and enhance continuous improvement efforts. This is a high-visibility role requiring a deep understanding of manufacturing operations and the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities :
Identify, scope, and facilitate improvement events
Conduct event follow-ups to ensure sustainment
Coordinate, teach, and coach company-wide initiatives such as Business Process Improvement, Idea System, 5S, Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI), and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
Support sustainability efforts for the ISO14001 program , including facilitating audits and steering committee meetings
Essential Duties (% of time / month) :
Lead the COS journey (30%) - Foster a culture of continuous improvement, align COS initiatives with business needs, and share best practices across the organization
Facilitate and participate in Kaizen events (20%) - Drive process improvements through hands-on shop floor and business process events
Enhance value from initiatives (30%) - Support MDI, 5S, Idea System, TPM, and the COS framework to maximize impact
Manage IMS progression (10%) - Oversee steering team meetings, track objectives, and drive project advancements
Lead variation reduction projects (10%) - Utilize Lean Six Sigma (LSS) principles to improve cost efficiency and process performance
Required Knowledge & Skills :
Technical Knowledge :
Strong operational understanding of manufacturing processes, business systems, and customer expectations
Expertise in Lean and Six Sigma tools such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Root Cause Analysis, TPM, and Mistake Proofing
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MS Teams, MiniTab, SAP, and project management software
Core Skills :
Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and analytical skills
Strong ability to facilitate group discussions and lead problem-solving initiatives
Effective project and time management skills
Ability to train employees in both classroom settings and hands-on work environments
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization
Work Environment :
Combination of office and plant environments; manufacturing areas may involve exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures
Requires walking, standing, bending, and climbing for training and troubleshooting in a production setting
Schedule & Travel :
Work Hours : Primarily business hours; extended hours may be required based on project demands
Days Worked : Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend travel to other CCM locations
Shifts : Primarily day shift, with some overlap across afternoon and night shifts to ensure initiative standardization
Location : Position is based in Tooele, UT ; travel to other CCM locations as needed
