What are the responsibilities and job description for the Competitive Swim Team Coach position at Carlisle Family YMCA?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide motivation, instruction and a safe environment to all participants of the competitive team. Provide direct leadership to the team and attend all practices, meets and functions throughout the team session. Maintain safe swimming conditions and maintain constant communication with Program Director/ Coordinator.
GENERAL FUNCTION:
The coaching staff is responsible for the administration of the practice plan, attending and organizing meets and effectively communicating with team parents, participants and volunteers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – Team Coach:
1. Plan and create meet line ups for dual and championship meets
2. Communicate with the team parent committee on a routine basis
3. Plan and lead team practices and meets, communicate with team staff to ensure practices and meets are organized.
4. Answer and return phone calls in regards to questions about the team and the general program
5. Supervise and instruct team members at all practices and meets
6. Ensure that all participants adhere to safety practices
7. Work with facilities Director to maintain, clean and create a healthy training environment based on standards set by YMCA of USA and New York State Department of Health. Regularly inspect equipment for safety and use.
8. Provide administrative oversight including participation records, announcements of events, communication with other teams, etc.
9. Host, plan and organize competitive meets as directed.
10. Actively pursue training, learning opportunities and certifications as they relate to responsibilities
11. Work with team parent committee to develop and implement various fundraising activities as directed by the Program Coordinator/Director.
12. Other duties as assigned

4. Actively pursue training, learning opportunities and certifications as they relate to responsibilities
5. Work with the Team Parents Committee to develop and implement various fundraising activities as directed by Program Coordinator/Director.
6. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. At least 18 years old.
2. Good organizational skills.
3. Experience in competitive sport being hired to coach
4. Ability to work unsupervised
5. Ability to work as part of a team
6. Minimum 1 year experience as a coach in the designated sport is required for the Team Coach.
7. Understanding of YMCA standards for the program.
8. Maintain First Aid, CPR Certifications
9. Swim Team Coaches must complete YMCA principles of Competitive Swimming.
10. Swim Team Coaches must complete Red Cross Safety for Swim Coaches within the first 30 days of employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds associated with demonstrating and moving training equipment.
2. Ability to adequately provide instruction and supervision for the designated program.
3. Above average sport specific skills.
4. Neat and clean appearance
