Position Summary
Serve as the manufacturing engineering leader and technical expert in a complex manufacturing environment in Jackson, Tn. Binks Manufacturing Location. Binks is a world leader in the Liquid Finishing, Sealant and Adhesive Industry. This position is Staff Level Leader for the facility overseeing the engineering and maintenance departments of the Jackson, Tn. Location.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for all manufacturing processes including, but not limited to machining, assembly, fabrication, CNC programming, cost estimating, plant/cell layouts, engineering standards, etc., and requires the coordination of all disciplines
- Specific emphasis on CNC programming of precision metal cutting machines of all types is critical to this role.
- Assist with planning and establishing sequences of operations to machine, fabricate and assemble parts or product for efficient utilization of Company resources in the manufacturing operations. Routing jobs and new product launches. Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to determine manufacturing methods, procedures and activities.
- Assist engineers with requisitioning tooling, repair parts, and supplies.
- Assist with writing, installing/programming CNC equipment and validating first piece inspection
- Identify technology solutions to improve manufacturing productivity, throughput & quality
- Manage Maintenance Team and oversee major repair and Preventative Maintenance Systems.
- Establish and maintain manufacturing engineering vision, mission, standards and values
- Responsible for achieving annual cost savings target
- Develop and build structure within the team to ensure scalability and opportunity for growth
- Develop a highly effective and productive team through hiring, development, coaching and performance management
- Lead, support, and coach an engineering team that will develop leaders
- Develop and maintain all related metrics and KPI's.
- Role is a key member of the Jackson Plant Staff and fostering a culture of a positive work environment with all employees.
- Manage and provide guidance to project & product managers ensuring project milestones are met
- Provide technical guidance and design for manufacturability recommendations to engineering ensuring cost effective designs
- Develop and implement all work instructions for operations
- Understand and apply a Continuous Improvement Mindset in standards and methodologies
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement
- Partner closely with all Engineering teams on existing and new product development
- Collaborate with all departments within the plant to ensure the optimal results for the business
- Assure compliance with internal and external regulations, policies and procedures for areas of responsibility
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
- Ten or more years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting
- Five years of management experience
- Ability to implement and improve Programming for CNC machines including Mazak, Tsugami, and other equipment types.
- High proficiency in manufacturing drawings, BOM's, and routings
- High level of competency with project management.
- Leadership skills and the ability to motivate people to create value and eliminate waste
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA, or Master’s in Mechanical or Electrical engineering
- Demonstrated competency applying Lean/Six Sigma tools
- Proficient in software applications specific to position requirements
- Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
