POSITION: Secondary Education Program Teacher - 2025-206 School Year

SUMMARY: Responsible for instructing courses designed to prepare interest eleventh and twelfth grade students to enter the education workforce. Courses include Foundations of Education, Pre-Practicum, and Practicum, and focus on subject-specific and task-based learning aligned with district and state standards. The teacher will prepare students to excel in their program studies and transition successfully into post-secondary education or the workforce. The position includes responsibility for fostering a collaborative and engaging classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and lifelong learning. You will be responsible for teaching the Education General, 13.0101 task list. You will be responsible to maintain and meet the PA Department of Education regulations for Chapter 339 for the Education General Program of Study. This program will focus on preparing high school teachers to work in middle and high school education.
The teacher will also support students' career readiness by incorporating relevant real-world applications and encouraging exploration of post-secondary pathways. This role aligns with the Carlisle Area School District's mission to provide educational and leadership opportunities for all students.
Education General 13.0101 PDE Program Description:
A program that focuses on the general theory and practice of learning and teaching, the basic principles of educational psychology, the art of teaching, the planning and administration of educational activities, school safety and health issues, and the social foundations of education.
Courses Taught:
Foundations of Education: This course will cover the fundamental principles of education, including educational theory, planning, and preparation for instruction, as well as understanding human development and fostering a supportive classroom environment.
Education Pre-Practicum: This course prepares students for hands-on experiences in the classroom. Students will engage in direct observation, student teaching, and mentorship, along with professional development. The course will emphasize, ethical standards, reflective practice, and culturally-relevant teaching.
Education Practicum: This course allows students to acquire hands-on experience in classrooms with emphases on strong classroom instruction, lesson design, ethical standards, and reflective practice. This course occurs during the Capstone and internship experience and, therefore, encompasses all program of study tasks. Students will engage in direct observation, student teaching, and mentorship, along with professional development.
Note during the Education Practicum, the teacher for this course will need to perform walkthroughs and observations and work with the students’ field experience teacher. This will require travel to the students Practicum locations.
Requirements to teach this program:
To teach this program you must hold through the Pennsylvania Department of Education a valid Instructional Certification, with any one of the following codes: 1200, 1603, 8825, 3200, 1657, 3230, 4820, 5600, 4810, 4805, 1666, 6800, 7650, 8405, 8420, 8440, 8450, 8470, 8865, 8875, 9231, 6075.
