The Carlisle Public Schools, a leader in Prek-8 education, is seeking an experienced professional educator to lead a dynamic Student Support Services Department. As a key member of the District Leadership Team, the Student Support Services Director will share in the decision-making and leadership responsibilities of the District, foster a culture of excellence and collaboration, and inspire creativity in design and delivery of quality educational services to meet the ever-changing individual needs of our students, families and district.
Successful applicants will hold a master’s degree, with 10 years of experience in a leadership/supervisory position in education, and MA DESE certification as a Special Education Administrator. Licensure and experience as a Director of Special Education required. Candidates should have excellent communication and organizational skills, understanding of federal and state special education laws and regulations, and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff and parents.
Duties include overseeing programming, compliance, and training in the areas of Special Education, ELL, Title IX, 504, Health, and the district Integrated Preschool. The Director attends IEP meetings, as appropriate; supervises and evaluates professional and support staff; facilitates Special Education staff meetings; and serves as a liaison for parents of students with disabilities through the parents' advisory council. The Director also works with general and special education staff and parents to ensure the effective implementation of IEPs and 504 plans and to promote an inclusive school climate for students with disabilities. Other duties include writing and administering special education and early childhood grants, as well as other grants as appropriate, attending area special education collaborative meetings, and serving as the case manager for students in out-of-district placements. The Director of Student Support Services is a member of the administrative team and works closely with other administrators on district goals, professional development, and budget. The position is full year and reports to the Superintendent of Schools.
