Carlow University is now accepting applications for our Assistant Dean and Director of Teacher Education position. The Assistant Dean and Director of Teacher Education will be responsible for effective leadership and management of educator, specialist, and administrative certification programs and state and national teacher accreditation. Reporting to the Dean of the College of Education and Social Work, the Assistant Dean will serve as liaison to the Pennsylvania Department of Education for state licensure and coordinate compliance and assessment for certification programs. This is a 12-month, full-time academic staff appointment with teaching responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A doctoral degree in Education awarded by a USDE-recognized institutional accrediting agency.
- At least 5 years of full-time teaching in PreK-12th grade education.
- At least 5 years of full-time teaching experience in higher education teacher preparation
- This higher education experience must include:
- Title II reporting and national teacher education accreditation experience
- State-level certification and licensure experience for educator preparation
- Assessment and data management in teacher education
- Administrative experience including program planning, program design, and teacher education program evaluation/assessment
- Scholarship (e.g., scholarship of teaching and learning).
- Strong project management and Excel skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Desire to work in a highly collaborative and growing academic College
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
REQUIRED MATERIALS:
- Serve as certification officer for Carlow’s teacher and administrative certification programs and School Social Work certificate program
- Complete annual PDE reporting and Title II report
- Lead program review and assurance document process in collaboration with program directors and faculty
- Participate in State-level meetings and conferences
- Lead and facilitate national teacher accreditation process
- Ensure program syllabi are consistent with university policy and accreditation standards
- Encourage and coordinate new certification program development efforts
- Serve as liaison with PDE and professional and community agencies
- Manage data collection and assessment system
- Coordinate alumni outreach and ACT 48 professional development programming
- Teach four classes per year
