Carlow University's School of Nursing, Department of Graduate Nursing, is seeking a full-time (9-month summer stipend) tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Nursing for the Oakland campus located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to begin on August 15, 2024. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with educational preparation and experience.
The full-time, tenure-track faculty member will have administrative responsibility for directing the post-master's Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), Leadership focused program and the MS Nursing Education / Leadership program with additional duties of teaching, service, and scholarship. The new director, in collaboration with the chair, will guide the graduate department in developing post-baccalaureate to DNP nurse practitioner tracks, and post-master's clinical DNP tracks.
Primary teaching responsibilities will focus on the graduate nurse practitioner programs' major courses at both the master's and doctoral level. Recent clinical experience is required. Expectations are consistent with the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty's (NONPF) Core Competencies (2022), and the American Academy of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Core Competencies for Professional Education (2021). Candidates should have prior experience in nursing education, and leadership, along with clinical expertise and skills as a certified registered nurse practitioner (CRNP).
The nurse practitioner programs in the Carlow School of Nursing use a primary health care and lifespan focus to prepare students for advanced practice in family, women's and psychiatric mental health nursing. Students are prepared to practice in various settings including communities, private practice, institutional settings, with particular attention to placements in areas with health disparities and vulnerable populations.
The program is offered as a Master of Science for those looking to enhance their career or as a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study for those already Mastered prepared as advanced practice nurses. A post-MSN completion program is also offered for those students interested in a terminal Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.
Required Experience / Qualifications :
- Valid, current, unrestricted Pennsylvania RN and CRNP Licenses.
- Doctoral degree (DNP, PhD, EdD, or other related degree)
- Board Certification required, AANP or ANCC certification as a family nurse practitioner is required.
- Clearances - Upon hire and updated every three years to include ACT 153 Clearances (FBI Fingerprints, Child Abuse and PA State Police).
