As a Residential Assistant at Carlsbad Lifehouse, you will play a vital role in supporting our residents through their recovery process. Located in Carlsbad, NM, this position is essential in fostering a safe and nurturing environment that promotes healing and growth.
Shifts Available
- 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM evening shift
- 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM graveyard shift
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily living activities to promote independence and well-being.
- Provide compassionate support to individuals in recovery, ensuring their emotional and physical needs are met.
- Engage residents in therapeutic activities that enhance their recovery experience.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all residents.
- Collaborate with the treatment team to implement individualized care plans effectively.
- Assist with transportation needs as required, ensuring residents can access necessary services.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance caregiving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure Confidentiality: Maintain the highest level of confidentiality, respecting the privacy of all residents and their personal information.
- Client Supervision: Provide visual and verbal monitoring of residents, ensuring adherence to program rules and reinforcing positive behaviors.
- Provide Support & Guidance: Offer redirection and support when necessary to encourage positive behavior and growth.
- Assist with Daily Routines: Help clients with daily assignments, routines, and responsibilities, ensuring consistency and structure in their day-to-day life.
- Maintain Therapeutic Boundaries: Establish and uphold healthy, professional boundaries to support a safe and effective treatment environment.
- Inventory & Orientation: Conduct personal property inventory for new clients during orientation to ensure safety and compliance.
- Room Inspections & Safety: Perform room checks and emergency safety drills as needed to ensure a secure living environment.
- Resident Transportation: Safely transport residents to appointments, meetings, and scheduled outings to support their treatment plans.
- Night Shift Duties: Conduct 30-minute room checks during the graveyard shift to ensure resident safety and well-being.
- Facilitate Groups: Lead educational or therapeutic groups as directed by clinical staff to support residents' recovery.
- Accurate Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate records of client activities, behaviors, and progress.
- Communication Log: Keep a comprehensive log summarizing shift activities and important events.
- Family Visit Monitoring & Receptionist Support: Oversee family visits and assist with receptionist duties, ensuring smooth operations.
- Phone Support: Professionally answer phone inquiries and direct calls appropriately.
- Assist with Administrative Tasks: Help assemble client charts, assignments, and handbooks as directed by the clinical team.
- Ongoing Engagement: Actively participate in staff meetings, individual supervision sessions, and training to enhance skills and foster personal development.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience in a mental health or residential treatment setting is a plus.
- Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to connect with clients while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Commitment to Confidentiality: A strong dedication to maintaining privacy and adhering to ethical standards.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and transport clients when necessary.
- Technology: Basic computer skills for documenting and communicating shift activities and resident progress.
